Brian's Bio
Brian Melaney is a “Consultant” by title but a “Coach” by persona. His introduction to franchising came in 1985 when he heard about The Pro Image, a sports apparel store. As its first franchisee, Brian opened stores 2, 3, and 30, which were wildly successful. In 1987 he sold all three stores to the Utah Jazz.Brian’s success with The Pro Image caught the attention of the corporate office and he was asked to come aboard as corporate trainer. As such, he trained 125 new Pro Image franchisees how to build, manage and expand their businesses. Sensing the opportunity to fill a need, Brian next created Melaney Marketing, a successful sports marketing firm, which represents over 20 different manufacturers and their products to numerous retailers.
Having groomed one of his sons to run Melaney Marketing, Brian then exercised his freedom to do what he loves most—coach others interested in franchising. As a consultant, Brian uses his knowledge of the industry, passion and success to carefully guide each candidate. He creates a personalized franchising model, then filters the field of franchises and collects information on the best opportunities available for each candidate. When the process is complete, the candidate has the information and freedom to make an intelligent franchise choice, based upon their personal interests, resources and goals.
In 2008, after consulting successfully for several years, Brian joined Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt as Vice-President of Franchise Development. At the time he joined Menchie’s, they had one open store. Within two years, Menchie’s became America’s fastest growing food franchise and two years after that became the world’s largest self-serve frozen yogurt franchise. The shareholders of Menchie’s then started a new Pizza concept, MidiCi, and asked Brian to serve in the same position.
Longing to again be a “Coach”, Brian has reopened that door and would enjoy helping you find the business match that will make a positive difference in your life.
Brian enjoys courting his beautiful wife of 42 years, enjoying his 7 adult children, attending all kinds of events involving his 16 grandchildren (one more on the way), serving actively in his church, and being civically involved in his community. (Brian served two four-year terms as mayor of West Haven, Utah from 2006-2013.)
